A theater counts as a war when states are fighting directly, not when the number is high. For scale: Geneva Academy's War Watch classifies 102 armed conflicts worldwide under international law — this tracker follows the nine with world-war potential.
How often are war reports published?
One a day. Every theater's write-up is rebuilt from that day's reporting, and every number re-judged from it. Every report since tracking began is kept exactly as published, with the methodology version that produced it, at wwiii.report/archive.
Where does the data come from?
